I just make "Shade Auto Smooth" and I got a well result
Cavity issue: Machine tools preferences-> modes pie settings -> turn off „toggle off cavity in edit mode“

So do you think Plasticity is going to replace Blender? I'm enrolled in your Hard Surface Academy 2.0 (OUTSTANDING), and am considering getting Plasticity, but am unsure if it's worth the investment.
It's great for hard surface modeling. Can't export decent quad btw.
Blender is a polygon based software so a different beast. Plasticity is very intuitive and fast. Superb for surfacing, faster and way more fun than subd, thats for sure.
Of course it will very soon. In Blender half time you will end up fixing topology here and there and at times it will drive you crazy
@@Augustein Dude, stop talking nonsense. Plasticity is NURBS based just like Rhino or Moi3d which I've been using for over 10 years. They are completely different from what Blender does which is polygon based 3d modeling. It's apples and oranges, 2 different things. NURBS won't replace polygon modeling nor polygon will replace NURBS. NURBS always had massive advantage over polygon modeling when it comes to hard surface modeling that it's a night and day difference. The main reason why people throughout years were not using for example Moi3d is because it was expensive, it was always around $300, even 15 years ago. I started using Moi3d when it was 0.9 beta and when I was working professionally as a graphic and web designer and when clients wanted their logo in 3d and some animations and stuff, I was always doing it in Moi3d and then exporting it elsewhere because to me working with polygons at that time was a fucking nightmare, I just didn't have time to dedicate myself to learning fully 3d and Moi3d was a god send. Then, later on when I started doing some concept art I was doing all hard surface modeling in Moi3d as well, there was no fucking way of doing it in a standard polygon based software. It's just a night and day difference. I never tried Plasticity but Plasticity is also simple stream lined NURBS modeling software just like Moi3d. Saying how NURBS will replace polygon modeling is total nonsense. Go model in NURBS, export model and let's see topology and good luck with that topology in video games, for example. No fucking way.
@roljavi every person has their own opinion and if you don't like what others say then you don't get to scream at them because this is not how civilized people react. Secondly, working in Blender at times becomes awfully time consuming whereas the same could be done in Plasticity on the go. If you like sticking to the free stuff then so be it. Period

Hello Ryu, is there a recommendation for using the the indie licencse or the studio license when using plasticity? Especially when I am a single user anyway. Because the studio license offers more modelling tools apparently.

Do all of your beginner tutorials for blender have paid addons? I'm not against paying to do things easier and faster, but I'm the type of person who likes learning and understanding how to do things the hard way, before jumping an entire learning curve just to get something done faster(buildings and bridges collapse because of people taking short cuts).
get Accelerator, we only use machin3 tools there and mostly for going into edit mode and switching between faces, verts, etc, simply faster. It used to be free, now its lke 10 bucks. www.blenderbros.com/

You are using 4.2 beta. In the stabber release, there is an actual add-ons tab. Plus, the install from disc option is a little less hidden. So that’s an improvement

They removed the built-in addons from this version, the addons that should be packaged with blender to begin with. What's more, the method that they included to install these addons doesn't work. There is supposed to be a index.json file in the appdata folder, and it's just not there. I can't find anything about this online. They made a version that is much worse than the previous version. Edit: To fix this, go to "get extensions" above the addons tab, then install any extension, then go back to addons to install your missing "built-in" extensions
Does anyone have any insight on why these decisions are being made? Is there someone new on the team? Did someone leave? There must be some kind of internal chaos going on because these changes seem totally inconsistent. Even from 4.1 to 4.2. Maybe they had pressure to release early? It makes me think of when Apple deprecated Aux ports, which actually pushed me pretty quickly back to Android. Absolutely retarded decision that was completely out of touch with their users. They think they’re being cool and innovative, but really are just a bunch of pale nerds wearing turtle necks who would be the first in line to buy robot sex dolls that are programmed to call them daddy.
I love blender but some of the updates make me wonder if they actually use the software themselves. I had to go to the blender website because it was not working on the application.

Nobody gives a fuck about what your pronouns are, so you didn't need to tell us what they are in the first place, and it just makes things more confusing than it needs to be. Same way nobody cares about the name changing of add-ons to extensions, it's a confusing change for no reason.

Could you clarify the connection between 2024, pronouns, and the shift in naming convention between addons and extensions? Is the term Addon considered more cis or gender normative than Extension in your culture? ..asking for a friend..

You can actually pin more modifiers. But it is still more troublesome and complicated compared to the old auto smooth simply just working. The auto smooth modifier is a nightmare in big scenes where I swap object data or have hundreds of objects, some of them in collections with visibility off. Because then I cannot remove/add/change the auto smooth, and the hold alt to change stuff on multiple objects only works with unhidden objects. They should just roll back and add back the old auto smooth feature and keep the geonode modifier for people who want it.

I know the extension bullshit sucks man. If anyone wants to get all the add-ons back, download the legacy bundle in the 4.2 release notes. Then install from disk.
These are not improvements, but rather deteriorations. Blender is increasingly suffering from the same issues as 3dsMax, where important areas are simply neglected. It's going to get much worse.
